The Montpellier, Harrogate

This is a smallish pub in a very nice part of Harrogate. Once inside there was a longish narrow room that was quiet most customers were sitting outside. There were two real ales on here i had a drink of John Smiths cask which was slightly off the other beer was Tetley bitter. Pub visited 16/7/2007

A long thin pub which is a bit too hot and a bit over-priced. The atmosphere is a bit like a chip shop with dining in facilites, there is a strong smell of chips and vinegar. It is however efficiently staffed. The decor is modern with stripped pine in a cafe like-setting, that is to say there are brown plastic Sarsons vinegar bottles and brown place mats at every table. Customers generally drink mass produced lager or smooth while waiting for their Fish'N'Chips. Cask ales from Courage, John Smiths and, fortunately, Daleside, as well as a wide range of keg beers.
