Wych Elm, North Kingston, Kingston Upon Thames

This is a two bar Fullers pub located in the back streets to the North East of Kingston town centre. First impressions are of a well kept pub, thanks in no small part to the amazing floral display that covers pretty much every inch of the front wall - I had to look twice to spot the doorway, such was the abundance of plant-life. Entry takes you into the main lounge bar which is essentially a large L shaped room, with a smart carpet and a good range of seating throughout. To the left of the entrance is the public bar, which has bare wooden flooring, a dart board on the far wall next to the fireplace and a large TV screen which was showing US Open tennis in German, for reasons not entirely apparent to me. The front wall of the pub has a number of large bay windows, some of which boast lovely coloured panes. There were three Fullers beers available - London Pride, ESB and Chiswick (£3.00). I was served by the friendly Spanish landlord and found the beer to be in decent nick. The pub has a real local's feel to it and whilst that doesn't normally put me off, the reception from the regulars seemed unnecessarily chilly. This part of Kingston has a few decent pubs tucked away down its back streets and if you're doing a crawl of the area, I'd say that this place is worth a look, but I'm not sure it merits a trip from the town centre in its own right.

Decent enough community local serving Fullers Ales in excellent nick. Chiswick, Pride, ESB, all on in good fettle. Warm and welcoming and pints readily topped up to the line so no complaints here. I'm told the food is good too. Two rooms in the old style, bar and saloon, a real fire and a good old welcome from the enthusiastic Spanish landlord who knows his beer and how to run a good house. The bar has tv for the football etc, plus a dartboard. Old pics of the area plus numerous framed awards for service and also the well appointed rear garden.

A fairly spacious Fullers pub tucked away in a residential area of Kingston. The pub is divided into a comfy carpeted lounge area and a more basic and spartan public bar. The lounge is neat and tidy with a real fire, piped mainstream music and floral portraits. It is probably a bit too sedate and inoffensive for everyone's taste, a bit too Radio 2ish if you get the drift and would only really appeal to the more mature drinker. The Public bar has darts and TV for sport and is quite a contrast to the lounge. Good range of Fullers beers (Casque Mark accredited) served by friendly and welcoming staff.
