Unicorn, Gidea Park, Romford

Located in a nice old building, I didn't spot any "Unicorn" signage which I'm guessing might have been its name before Harvester got its hands on it. There's a reasonably large bar area on the right, with an even larger reataurant area on the left. I guess this what you expect from a Harvester. The bar area was furnished almost entirely with normal tables and chairs, and was clearly child-friendly with a "Crazy Toys" kids' game with garish green lighting dominating one of the walls. It's a Harvester and will be like all the other Harvesters you've visited. I think the food's OK but not particularly cheap. There's no real ale of course; I had a half of Brewdog Wingman IPA for £2.80 and that's not overly expensive these days. It's not really somewhere I would recommend just for a drink, but opening at 11.30 AM handy if waiting for the Ship next door to open.

The Unicorn is almost next door to the Ship. This is a fairly large pub that trades under the Harvester banner. Once inside there is a small area to the right which is set aside for drinkers, this area is oblong shaped and carpeted, the seating is bench type and normal tables and chairs, the left side is much larger and for diners only so i was not allowed to look at this area of the pub. There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of John Smith smooth crap which it was,the other keg bitter was GK iPA. This is a pretty poor pub for drinkers, but at least they let me in unlike some Harvesters. Pub visited 30/6/2016
