The Castle Inn, Skipton

Almost a gem but perhaps a bit overdone on the tourist front. It appears to extend across two old buildings so the internal layout is a bit jumbled. It is all old woodwork totally covered in breweriana and similar tut, so has considerable atmosphere and a great pub feel. It was rather overcrowded on this visit, with a party group having occupied the main room and rain rendering the large front terrace unusable, but still felt friendly and well-run. The five ales on were Theakston's Best and OP, TT Landlord & Blonde and Ossett White Rat.

Good looking pub both outside and inside. Several areas inside, although it's pretty much one room with partitions. Al is right, it does feel a bit cramped and it wasn't that busy during our visit. I had a pint of Landlord and Ms CAMRA had a half of Olde English. That will be Eight Pounds said the barperson!! We queried this as all our previous ronds had been around £6 - £6.50. £5.25 for the Landlord, £2.75 for a half of cider. Theft!! Even the Woolly Sheep only charges around £4.60 for Landlord. There's a pub in Skipton called The Fleece, but this is where the fleecing occurs.
