ReviewOne of Liverpool’s Orish pubs, over two floors although the lower one was closed so I used the bar upstairs. Bare floorboards, rough plastered and painted brick walls, dark wainscotting and old wooden adverts from Ireland along with some interesting little nooks and cranies give the place an interesting atmosphere, the massive old ceiling beams do look authentic for the building and are used to hang eathernware jugs etc. The manikin of famous Irishman Elvis Prestley is perhaps less authentic but probably relates to the music side of the pub. The modern world has its screens and machines here too. There are a few tables and chairs, an open booth affair but mainly the space is devoted to vertical drinking. Several Guinness taps of course plus Magners cider with Tetleys Smooth, and various lagers. There is a line up of clocks behind the bar all showing different times but I couldn’t see the labels so I’m none the wiser what they mean. There is live music here very frequently including “didley didley” (Irish) music every Wednesday.
