Black Rabbit, Ravenscourt Park, W12

Visited 07/10/26. Visited as Oak W12 on 27/02/25. No draught beer. Small but decent range of beers by bottle and can. Currently only the restaurant is open (open for about 2/3 months), but they will accept drinkers at the bar counter and tables if not busy with diners. It is a big lump of a (former) pub on a corner of a busy road junction. Painted black on the outside, inside it is bare boarded with the bar counter near the entrance on one side or directly opposite the entrance on the other side. There is some outside seating but not in play on my visit on a rainy early evening. Seating in the restaurant via fabric banquettes serving regular tables with regular chairs the other side thereof. Fringe as a venue on here now but they are actively refurbishing the other side of the venue to be a dedicated bar space that may well have draught beer, but the venue is aiming itself as a wine bar that is a listening bar. Not much to rate highly on here now but I really liked my stay here over a very decent glass of wine and would definitely return my low score in current guise when the dedicated listening bar opens in a few months’ time.

Visited as Oak W12 on 27/02/25 No cask. Small keg range of Guinness, Menabrea, Laine Source and Orchard Pig Reveller. This definitely feels more restaurant than even Gastro pub. There is an area out the front that I am sure is popular in better weather evenings. Inside it is a distressed bare board affair with the bar counter against the wall opposite the door in this L shaped venue. Regular tables and chairs including some padded benches around the perimeter. Obvious space for drinkers is the tall stools with red leather seats at the bar counter. The open kitchen including pizza oven is just inside the entrance to the right-hand end of the bar counter. Good pint of Guinness enjoyed, but little offered to drinkers otherwise!

Like its sister pub, the Oak W2, this is in effect a restaurant. There’s seating for drinking outside but on entering, there’s a meet-and-greet area where diners can be shown to their seats. There’s limited stool seating to the bar for drinkers but that’s about it. The interior’s quite lofty with a trendy interior employing well-worn design motifs such as bare brick walls painted white, at least one wall covered with exposed log ends, trendy lamps on long flexes and a bare boarded floor painted white and now distressed through wear. Service was friendly enough but there’s no real ale, possibly even no keg stuff either so I opted for a half of Estrella at a painful £2.70. As there’s no real ale a here and the venue is arguably no longer a pub, I won’t be returning. The Tabard is jut ten minutes’ walk west of here.
