The Bell, Dereham

Much extended and enlarged country pub given over for eating. There’s a fairly traditional bar at the front with formal dining in the areas behind and to the side. A mix of traditional furnishings, decor is largely old prints. The dining areas are elegant perhaps in a sub country house style. The L shaped counter has a single pump with the ubiquitous Wherry and a keg trio to the left while the front face has two keg trios and four pulls with decent range, today from Duration, Lacons, Trawler boys and an house badged bitter from someone not noted on the clip.

Set in a rural location, overlooking common land, this is a popular pub for both diners and drinkers alike. This was one of my 2 favourite pubs of the day, but unlike the White Hart at Ashill, this one did feel a little more commercialised and upmarket. Woodforde's Wherry & Adnams Ghost Ship are the regular beers. Guests on my visit were Barsham Oaks & Moon Gazer Nibbler. The front bar is fairly impressive, whilst there is a large restaurant at the rear of the bar.
