Purecraft, Birmingham

Purecraft is open plan with a long bench and some high tables in the centre and tables and chairs across the rear wall. A large open kitchen is found to the left and the stainless steel topped serving counter runs up the right-hand wall. The two duplicated banks of five hand pumps were all drawing Purity ales, the choice being Jimbo, Bunny Hop, Mad Goose, Pure Ubu and Pure Gold. There are also 21 craft beers listed on the chalkboard across the back bar, 11 of them also being Purity beers. There’s a smaller bar with seating downstairs that I assume is for busy times and private functions. It certainly wasn’t in use during my recent Wednesday evening visit when I was the only customer in the building, although the café seating out the front was almost full. This place is characterless, but the service from the young barmaid was very friendly and I had a decent pint of something. I’d pop back in if passing but would probably only stay for one.

Purity bar with a grand old exterior and a contrasting industrial style interior. Real ales and keg served.

I took a bit of a gamble on this mega trendy bar and quickly decided it wasn’t for me. The interior in the main bar feels like a Scandinavian coffee shop, but even more minimalist. no comfortable seating, bare floors, almost no decor, open kitchen. Just a room of nothingness. Staff were a bit full of themselves, it felt very middle class and certainly not pub-like. However it is what it is, and the beer was pretty good - 5 casks from Purity and 10 or so craft options.
