The Carpenters Arms, Wolverhampton

I never visited this place as Chill but I'm guessing this is an improvement. It is now a modern micropub. Plenty of seating and the Carpenters Arms motif etched into every table is a nice touch. 4 ales on handpull - HPA, Salopian Lemon Dream, Bass and Springbanks Mild. I went for the latter which was very good. I also had the largest cob I've ever seen! Well worth a visit.

New 'Wine & Jazz Bar' standing out as much lower than its adjoining buildings in the terrace. Tasteful modern furniture and decor that won't appeal to the traditionalist, and neither will the lack of any draught beer (let alone cask ale). That said, there were several interesting bottled beers in the fridges, including Fallen Angel Pale Bitter and Church End Gottle o' Geer (£4.50). With some decent music at a sensible level, this is a civilised spot for a drink but hardly exciting.
