PSA: Previously you had to enter you car reg into a terminal if using the car park. Now the rules have changed, and parking is limited to 3 hours, with no requirement to enter your reg anywhere.
An unusual Spoons in that it has obviously always been a pub rather than converted from something else. It's large with different sections, and the bar is in the centre. To the front, there is a nice looking outdoor seating area.
At the bar, three guest ales on at £2.40 a pint, possibly a bit on the light side considering the Spoons beer festival is on, but perhaps there isn't much demand in these parts.
Busy at 3pm midweek with some rather boisterous patrons.
Toilets are on the ground floor, and in fact I am not sure the upstairs area is customer accessible. There were puddles under most of the urinals so either there's a maintenance issue or a cleaning issue.
Does the job but no desire to rush back.

The Wheatsheaf is a short and wide L-shaped Wetherspoons with a bar counter across the rear wall that faces a line of high tables across the middle of the pub. There are some booths up the right and more seating is found in the left rear. There is also a dartboard on the left-hand wall. There are two banks of five hand pumps which were duplicated with the usual three suspects, Spitting Feather’s Rush Hour and an unused pump. The staff were friendly, but this is a basic Spoons that I doubt I’ll ever revisit.

The Wheatsheaf is one of those large 20th Century barns that in the late 20th and 21st Century became totally unviable for the pubcos. As a result, unusually for a Spoons there is an extensive car park at the front.
Inside it consists of a long shallow room with the bar at the back. I completely missed the rear dining area mentioned below. I did notice a dart board that didn't look serviceable for a proper match.
The beer choice was disappointing as the two sets of hand pumps were all doubled. The five choices were the two GK beers, an International one from the previous festival, Purple Moose Dark Side Of The Moose and Weetwood Old Dog. I went for the Purple Moose which was in good nick. I thought this was a reasonable Spoons but let down by the beer choice.
