Rob Hunter left this review about The Greyhound
The Greyhound reopened earlier this year, following an extended period of closure. The new management have put a lot of effort into the place and promote it well via social media.
Paid a visit on a Friday afternoon at the end of August. Two hand pulls but neither were clipped, despite the sign above the bar boasting 'cask ales'. A very standard keg range resulting in me going for a Guinness; a pint of that and a pint of Pepsi set me back £8.70.
Fairly quiet at the time of my visit around 3:45pm with just one fella and one couple in. Some corporate looking chaps arrived later on.
Clubland music TV channel was playing on the TV but muted, with other music coming from the speakers. There is a grey pool table. There are wooden stripped floors, with chequered tiling around the bar.
Pleasant enough but certainly nothing to get excited about in terms of the beer offering. It feels like a community pub trying to cater to everyone - games machines, big TVs, live entertainment, and a DJ setup. Snacks are advertised in the form of hot dogs, pies and ice lollies. Menus for the Indian restaurant are available inside the pub, however this is within a separate restaurant area (entrance near the hotel door) and appears to operate somewhat independently.
It's not terrible and of course it's great to see a pub re-open, but I can't see me wanting to return.
