The Railway Inn has a large main bar to the front and the smaller Leander Pullman Lounge to the rear. The main bar had quite a few Halloween items and was that a Christmas tree I spied in the corner?! A couple of TVs were showing tennis and greyhound/horse racing. There was a games machine and a dartboard. A wifi password was available behind the bar.
The room feels quite cosy with carpet, white painted walls and grey wainscotting. There are plenty of things to view on the walls, including a corner devoted to Leicester City.
4 handpulls can be found on the bar but only Tiger is stocked these days. The unused handpulls all had witches hats over them. Thatcher's Gold was the cider.
On the face of it, this seemed like a nice pub. It was the last of Ratby's pubs to feature in the Good Beer Guide (back in 2008)! However, I thought that service lacked a bit of friendliness in here, presumably because I wasn't local. When asked what I would like, the barmaid (possibly the middle aged female suggested in the last review) started to pour a pint of lager for a local instead of dispensing my drink and I didn't exactly feel welcome. I paid with card but later noticed a cash is king sign behind the bar. Contrary to the previous reviewer, I found a middle-old aged crowd present on my Tuesday evening stop.
Some good points for this pub but the beer range and lack of any kind of welcome let it down.

Two room local for the younger and sports-oriented. COVID meant I ended-up in the rear room without seeing the front bar. Rear room is a mish-mash of a Linda Barker refurb with an unappealing array of greys, off-whites and ‘distressed’ blues as well as various things spelt out in spangly jumbo letters of the type you'd get in TK Maxx – I’d wager the licensee is a middle aged female. Football on the telly with a few other punters gathered round an Ipad watching an obscure horse race. Slightly chaotic service, my appearance at the bar asking for a seat was met with a look of bewilderment (well how else am I meant to find a table that is COVID-ready?) but they got their act together fairly swiftly. Four pumps at the bar but disappointingly just a fusty Everards Tiger available (NBSS 2). Didn’t appeal to me - if an Everards pub in an LE postcode can't shift a good pint of Tiger...

The Railway Inn is quite a nice looking pub and once inside the pub the bar was facing and the pub was quite smart with carpets and it had a cottagy feel to it,there was another room at the back of the pub but i did'nt have a look at this.
This pub is an Everards tied house and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Everards Beacon bitter bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Everards tiger bitter and Orignal.
I thought this was quite a nice pub and i was quite happy having a drink in here
