Soup Dragon left this review about The Black Prince

Interesting exterior to this terraced town centre pub: with a mock-Tudor brick and heavy lintel upper and a lower that looks like an 18th century stern from a man of war - half expected Hornblower serving behind the bar. There is a rear beer garden. The interior is a different interesting. The old rooms are, as usual, opened out, with a stage area in one part - although one room remains in which an art class was taking place (actual drawing/painting and not downing a pint in one while ordering a second coherently). These areas, in dark green, dark red and dark wood give a faux Baronial Hall feel - especially with the knight statues and stuffed heads. No TV or music, although it is a music venue. Service was great and a few people were in during the afternoon. 4 ales from their own stable and the Black Prince Porter was very good. Great visit.

Moby Duck left this review about The Black Prince

A large pub with numerous beers available, rather dark inside with stained woodwork and green and red paintwork, it shares a penchant for the same wall decorations as its sister pub Olde England, stuffed animal heads and skulls. It is a live music venue with a large function room and apparently a massive beer garden though I didn't venture out to look.Drinks wise I chose Nobbys Chocolate Porter which turned out to be very chocolaty and very nice. Another good Northampton Pub.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Black Prince

The Black Prince is a decent looking pub that was until recently called the Racehorse.
Once inside the pub has two separate rooms,we had a drink in the room to the right which had tall tables and chairs to the front and normal tables and chairs to the rear, the bar is on the left side and also serves the room to the left which has normal tables and chairs.
There are loads of hand pumps on the bar and in both rooms 26 in all with 6 having real Ciders on,this left me with a choice of 20 real ales to choose from, far too daunting for me,i had a drink of a beer called Old England which was decent and well kept,my brother had a drink of J. Church Lions Den.
We did not have the faintest idea that this the last pub of the day would have so many real ales on,as it was not on our plan to do.
I will await the reviews that follow from the hordes who only chase real ale pubs.
We were the first.
