A no-frills village pub which offers good value food and drink. It looks a bit tired from the outside, but once in there is a warm greeting and a good pub atmosphere. There is a large car park at the side, but not much of a garden. There is plenty of outside seating, though much of it probably needs replacing The landlady was particularly welcoming, and there was a good local feeling. The single large bar was formed by knocking through, leaving a two-sided chimney breast with a woodburner in the centre. There is also a skittle alley at the rear. It was a bit sad to see a caged parrot in this day and age, though. There was a TV screen in the bar, though this was switched off. Two handpumps on the bar, but only one ale on, Otter Amber, in good condition. Bottled Doombar was offered as an alternative, though a keg range of Stella, Camden Pale, Stowford Press, Devon Red, Guinness and Carlsberg was also available. It’s a decent enough pub, and I’d be very happy to come back for food and drink, but it has seen better days.

Good village pub with two main rooms and skittle alley at rear. Lots of nice dark wood gives a traditional feel. At time of visit offering a couple of Red Rock beers badged as Tolchards, but very drinkable. Food looked good although not sampled and also available as take-away. Only grumble that they do not seem to have made much of the outside.
