Blackthorn _ left this review about Pedn Olva
A modern and contemporary hotel and pub just on the outskirts of the town centre, the main draw here is undoubtedly the fantastic views with far reaching views both back across the harbour and to Porthminster Beach in the other direction, and the pub makes the most of this with large windows and a number of outside balconies.
Internally the décor is very modern and somewhat lacking much in the way of any real character, but is certainly pleasant enough nonetheless. The main room runs almost the full length of the pub and consists of dark wood strip on most of the floor with pale tiling at one end, sanded boards on much of the ceiling fixed at a 45° angle and fresh white plasterwork on the upper part of the walls with bottle blue tiling elsewhere. A few odd pieces of artwork were dotted around, a few of which were St Austell branded such as a Proper Job plaster cast. Some glass partitions were etched with images of Cornish tin mines, while a slightly smaller room at the rear offered the best views with extensive glazing on three sides.
Beers on tap were all from St Austell with their Tribute, Anthem and Proper Job, whilst the ciders were a quartet from Thatcher’s with their Gold, Blood Orange, Cloudy Lemon and Apple & Blackcurrant. Overall, certainly a lovely spot, and if you can get an outside seat on a nice sunny day you can’t beat the location, but I’m not sure I’d make a special effort just for the pub.
