Away from the main drag ,this pub has a very high ceiling and a series of rooms around an island bar.The servery at the front has a rank of standard kegs beers but also 5 handpumps, two working on my trip offering XT4 and North Cotswold Shagweaver which was in particularly good nick ,NBSS 4.There is an arch to a rear seating area infront of the open kitchen but wind around and you will see a back snug with it's own flatscreen for terrestrial sport, although this area can be booked for large events such as Euro 24. There are french doors to an attractive cobbled courtyard on two levels. The pub offers rooms and also food M-F but not weekends.
The muzak was mindless but I can forgive that, however it was quiet by 9pm on a Thursday when other nearby pubs were still popular.
Maybe I got lucky with the ale but I would suggest including this place on a crawl list when in town, there is a certain quirky charm and clearly a community vibe with a Tuesday quiz .

Decent pub just off the main square. 4 ales on when I called - XT 4, HPA, Purity Gold and Silhill Pure Star. The 2 I tried were in good shape. Well worth a visit.

This pub, to me anyway, had the feel of an ex-Irish style bar. A large single room with high ceilings and wood throughout. A beer garden is to the rear. Situated just off the market square and cheaper than those there, minus the Wethers of course. Up to 5 real ales available. Nice enough without being great.
