E TA left this review about The Somerset
Previously The Somerset, this is a one-room bar in the historic Cornhill Building, previously a factory then a magistrates’ court. The bar is part of the Temperley business, run by the fashion designer Alice Temperley, alongside her cafe, photo studio and brand shop. The bar stocks ciders and perries from Alice’s father’s Burrow Hill cider mill, which also distils Somerset Cider Brandy and operates the Glastonbury Festival Cider Bus, so the cider is excellent; a range of it is available in bottles, and there is a box of Burrow Hill Cider on the bar counter. No draught beer is available, though, and their opening times are unpredictable. When we visited the barman was efficient though not particularly chatty. It’s worth a visit for the cider if you’re in the area and lucky enough to find it open.
