A recent opening above Lane 7 just off Millennium Square, this has something of a golf theme, as it’s name suggests, and is in reality just as much an indoor golf course as it is a pub. That said, there’s certainly no restriction on you just popping in for a drink, and many punters appeared to be doing just that.

Internally it’s all one large, open plan room, although the “golf course” was segregated to an extent by low black fencing. It’s quite industrial in appearance, with a black painted concrete ceiling along with exposed cable trays, pipework and so on, although there was also a solitary glitter ball hanging in the centre. Flooring is mostly some sort of concrete screed, along with some patterned tiling in front of the bar counter, whilst seating was a mixture of padded benches, high tables and chairs and some lower tables near the food hatch which appeared to be a concession called Dirty Birdie. As mentioned, the golf part of the pub is quite considerable taking up around 50% of the floor space, and appeared to consist of two separate nine hole courses. There were also some electronic dart boards at the rear of the pub.

Predictably there were no real ales on tap, just Neck Oil on keg. Ciders fared slightly better with Inch’s Medium Apple, North Street and Old Mout Berries & Cherries. Overall, unless you fancy a round of golf, I can really see no particular reason to visit here.
