Blackthorn _ left this review about Mine Taproom
Recently opened on what for many years a jeweller’s shop followed by a short lived bistro, this is now the tap room for the nearby Mine Brewery. It’s split across two levels as they have also knocked through in to the adjacent premises, and they have done a decent job of making a proper pub rather than the rather sparse and utilitarian feeling that you often find in a tap room.
Décor wise the upper room is quite contemporary with slate style tiling on the floor and fresh white plasterwork on the ceiling. It’s light and airy with dual aspect windows, and the little wall that was left has bene painted deep blue. It’s not particularly large, and with the bar counter taking up much of the available floor space, seating options were limited to a few bar stools and fitted bench seating in the window. The lower room at the rear felt a little more rustic with plenty of rough wood cladding on the walls, some unusual and abstract colourful artwork, fairly lights on the ceiling and a number of small tables.
Beers on tap were predominantly their own as would be expected, with the cask options consisting of In Vein, Mine’s Best and Citra, along with Firebrand’s West Coast IPA as a guest. Keg options meanwhile were their own Obsidian, FeS2, Super Jack and Ransom along with Firebrand’s Oars Up! and Thundercloud. Ciders were well represented too with Polgoon, Lilley’s Bee Sting Perry and Rhubarb, Firedancer Red Apple and St Ives Lighthouse. All in all a pretty decent new opening with a friendly barmaid and a decent buzzy feel.
