Two handpumps providing Sambrooks Pumphouse and London Pride. Keg offering of Guinness, Stone Wood Pacific Ale, Stella, San Miguel, Estrella, Modelo, K1664, Brooklyn Stonewall Inn IPA, Camden Hells, Carlsberg, Leffe Blonde, Thatchers Juicy Apple cider.
A bit of a gap since my last visit, but the venue is unsurprisingly little changed. Classic Soho corner boozer that attracts a stand around the small perimeter drinking crowd irrespective of the weather. Inside it is carpeted, U shaped with the bar counter following the internal shape of the venue. Prize spaces in my long history of quaffing here are the stools on the sides of the bar counter. Down the right-hand side is a drinking ledge, a couple of stools and a couple of standing spaces. Red fabric banquette under the front, frosted, plant heavy windows and sills serving small tables with low stools similarly upholstered the other side thereof. Same story down the right-hand wall. Pleasantly lighted and an 80's soundtrack from the wall mounted jukebox by the rear of the left-hand side ahead of the climb to the upstairs toilets. Can't speak for anything other than the gents, but the graffiti on the walls thereof would put most authentic dive bars to shame. An authentic Soho pub gem.

I wandered into the Blue Posts on a recent Friday evening during a drag queen hosted karaoke session, so it was very raucous with most punters choosing to stand on the path outside that was being patrolled by a security guard whose job it was to stop people spilling out into the road, a thankless task. Inside is U-shaped bar with an L-shaped serving counter that supports standard, premium and mainstream craft keg, I didn’t spot any hand pumps. There’s a worn carpet throughout and seating runs around the exterior walls, with the karaoke going on towards the rear. There was far too much excitement for me, so I smashed back a half and fled the scene.

I've walked past this pub countless times over the years without being drawn inside, more fool me, I discovered an excellent earthy, old school boozer well attended with local characters, a Paul Weller lookalike had control of the jukebox and I happily enjoyed half an hour of musical heaven.Beer wise nothing to write home about but my pint of Sambrooks Pale was good enough to demand a second, the other choice being a predictable London Pride. The real draw here though was the back in time scenario in the pub and I found it hard to leave, I'll certainly be back.
