Having visited quite a few pubs on the outskirts of Leicester earlier in the evening, this pub in the market town of Market Bosworth felt completely different. It felt like a much more rural area with locals discussing the art of plucking and gutting pheasants.
This is a olde worlde pub with shields on the bar and horse brasses on the beams. It is cosy and carpeted with white wallpaper. A sign stating that the kitchen was closed was quite prominent, leaving just the local drinkers with there dogs. A couple of elderly people were also playing pool to the rear.
The solitary cask ale was Wainwright Gold, with 3 unused handpulls. Ciders were Inch's & Strongbow. Half price ale was being promoted on a Monday night but I'm not sure I'd drink Wainwright if it was free. There is an outdoor patio to the rear. The car park requires you to register your vehicle at the bar.

Traditional corner pub with a 70s refit kept well; wonky beams, woodchip wallpaper, red fabric banquettes, heraldic coats of arms on the lower servery. Proper fire on the go. Nine pumps (!) with three cask on - Marstons Pedigree, Wainwright Gold (NBSS 1.5, farty) and Amber (3). I liked the fabric of the pub, shame about the inconsistent ale quality (perhaps less is more…). I’d give it another go should I find myself back in town again. 6.5

Old school old beams type of place as discussed below, little has changed, including the prices, which while steep then are fair enough now. Only a few people in on a Sunday afternoon after the roast dinner brigade had finished, and seemed a safe enough spot to try Marstons "61 Deep", which was OK and served to our table with a smile.
Market Bosworth is a handsome town, and this pub a makes an pleasant break while nosing around.
