Smelly old place with an unsatisfying mish-mash of an interior and furniture. The new ‘whole wall’ mural looks like something out a children’s book. Been in and out of the GBG over the years - currently, it’s listed. Five cask on the go, my Small World Thunderbridge Stout was decent (NBSS 3.5) though the bar blockers were unwelcome. Worth having a look if you’re nearby for the cask+plus quality but it didn’t strike me as somewhere I’d want to do a session in, a slightly odd atmosphere. 6.5

A flying visit to this small, basic, boozer located round the back of the Council House. The front room is only just big enough to swing a cat and has a very ‘lived-in’ feel, verging on the knackered in places. Basic furnishings plus window perch, very intimate so you have to talk! Two ales on, St Austell Tribute and Proper Job – the Proper Job was in top form and it’s a shame I had to neck it. There were also some proper ciders too but didn’t note what they were. Staff were friendly. CAMRA discount on pints advertised on the large screen to the right of the bar which also flashed up other notices and events of note. Based on the beer quality, I’d be happy to do this one again. Rated 7

I enjoyed my visit to this small, quirky boozers boozer. In the nicest possible way, its the sort of place that Mrs M would be frowning at me, should I have brought her for a night out. Best described as earthy....

A single roomer, with the landlord creating an atmosphere by spinning 80s tunes through his phone. Just Cant Get Enough by Depeche Mode popular at Ashton Gate.

I went for a fine Small World Brewery Twin Falls. I've never heard of the brewery but it was 25 years ago when I last visited Huddersfield.

This is a very quirky pub but charming. There is no significant signage just a small note of the name, although there are some large picture windows to the front and a few long benches outside. The interior is the very definition of basic, worn wooden mixed furniture, some rickety cinema style seats and some made out of packing cases. The bar is in the front section, the rear has a jumble of furniture.Bring your own food if you are hungry.
Thankfully all 6 handpumps were working serving on my trip Byatt's XK Dark,Yeovil Stout Hearted,Dancing Duck Ay Up,Bluestone Cragfest ,Blue Bee Hillfoot Best and Ginger Beer (great,NBSS 4.5).Thats a decent mix of styles,it fully deserves it's GBG entry,I liked the down at heel vibe and could see myself enjoying a long session here .Include on any real ale tour,it's alternative and worth seeking out.
