Directly outside the railway station it’s a double fronter with two doors off the entrance vestibule but leading into a single U shaped bar. The outside and the sign are labelled John Smiths and Heineken/Star keg brands were all that were available. When asked about cask I was told “it’s the brewery wot stopped it”. A few weeks before when WhatPub updated the page it had John Smiths cask. Two T-Bars on the counter located at the back and an unused but still clipped John Smiths handpump supporting a clutch of charity collecting boxes. It’s pretty unspoiled inside apart from the two bars being combined, as it’s cash only it is a bit like stepping back a decade or three. Carpeted throughout the ex public on the left has a screen, pool table and dart board, the ex lounge has tables and chairs, the public has a mix of seating. Decorated with much brassware and rugby team photos and shirts etc plus some Victorian boxing pictures. Odd but not unpleasant, beer excepted.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Wheatsheaf Inn

Adjacent to the station on a bypassed stretch of road, the two former rooms of this partly opened-out pub now form an 'U'-shape with the pool table in one arm, the main seating area in the other and the counter at the far end. Looks a bit plain from the front, but fairly traditional furniture and decor inside. Not much on the beer front, with just John Smith's Cask (£2.90) from the pair of handpumps, and a few standard keg offerings.

Les Marshall left this review about Wheatsheaf Inn

The very best cooked meat that my family and I have had the pleasure of eating, the meat is slowly cooked from 9.30pm Saturday so that it is wonderfully cooked ready for Sunday lunch. We go for our Sunday lunch every two weeks because it is so very nice and good value. We live in Leeds and the trip to the Wheatsheaf is well worth the drive. For fantastic food and good service I recommend that you book your Sunday lunch, you will not be dissapointed. The food served through the week is also very good. You must try this pub, tell Carol (landlady) that you read Les Marshall's review.
