The Wild Alderman is a Beartown pub with three of their own ales on cask at the time of my visit in August, plus a guest from Thornbridge. 10 keg taps including lagers and craft beers. There are also bottles in the fridge, including a couple of German beers. My cask Beartown Citra Smash set me back £2.45 for a half.

Quiet just before 12 on a Friday, I was the sole customer. It's a clean and tidy place, with modern retro décor inside. The exterior was being swept and chairs put out while I was there.

I am not sure if food is served, I didn't see any menus out but one member of staff had a pinny on that you'd expect to see on a chef. There is a chalk board that lists bar snacks. Another chalk board lists six ales though only four hand pulls so not sure if that may include ales coming soon, or perhaps I missed a couple of hand pulls hiding away somewhere.

I liked this place, had a nice chilled out vibe and good beer; I would be happy to return.

This very old building is a former restaurant, right next door to the Olde Cock, but now repurposed as a pub with a fairly large dining room - likely in a modern extension - behind the centrally placed bar. The front rooms look as though they would like you to order some food too, but it's not as in-your-face as in some dining pubs, and we were made very welcome for our beers after a walk around the slightly waterlogged Fletcher Moss nearby. There were three beers on hand pull, all from Bear Town in Congleton. My pint of Kodiak was pretty good (NBSS 3.5) while my walking companion had a zero alcohol lager; other keg options were listed on a blackboard. Although I discovered this pub entirely accidentally, it would be worth walking to from Didsbury, or even a bus or tram ride from Manchester if you were feeling adventurous.
