Blackthorn _ left this review about Johns Wine Bar & Bottle Shop
As it’s name suggests, this is very much more of a bottle shop and wine bar rather than your traditional pub, but there are nonetheless a small range of drinks available on tap, and there was a decent crowd in on our Saturday evening visit.
The pub is divided in to two halves, with the front part being very much the bottle shop with shelving all around and a counter with a till for shop purchases. The majority of the range was wine, but there were also a few shelves of beers and ciders, with quite a few trappist beers as well. The rear half is the pub part, and this was quite cosy with pinewood boards on the floor and deep blue wood panelling on much of the walls, as well as some rough wood cladding on the back wall. A few pieces of colourful alcohol related artwork were dotted around, and I thought they’d one a good job of creating a welcoming space.
Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, and just St Ives Slipway on keg, along with a couple of lagers. You could of course though select a bottle from the shop if you wanted a little more variety. Overall I quite liked it here, although if you’re after something a bit more “pubby” with a better range of beers on tap, then it may not be for you.
