First up this is my last remaining SE22 pub. It is a pub that I have passed many times over recent months in Uber on the way back to London Bridge late night from quaffing in more southerly SE postcodes that I have so looked forward to visiting as it looks so enticing under cover of darkness. I cannot believe that it has been unreviewed in more than 10 years since Alan’s only other review of the venue.

The venue is as physically described in Alan’s review. Not 100% sure it is retained by Youngs but all three hand pumps were functioning and dispensing Young’s Original which was fine, but you would have to be somewhat lacking to mess that one up. Lots of other keg offerings, this time Bandit was the most notable compared to many other standard pub offerings.

This place has a good location, it creates a nice ambiance with the lighting and its shape makes it quite homely (some outside seating but none utilised this evening). However it was ultimately a disappointment for me. Nothing hugely wrong but nothing to augment the X factor that the location should convey. Probably a 6 but notched down based on my disappointment of it not living up to my expectations!

The Clock House is a large looking pub that is in a decent location opposite Peckham Rye commom.
Once inside there was a small L shaped room to the front which had normal tables and chairs, there was a small raised area to the right which had similar seating, there was a larger seperate room to the rear which was more modern looking compared to the front bar,i would have thought the rear room would be favoured by diners.
The pub is a Youngs /Charles Wells tied house, there were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Youngs bitter which was decent enough but did'nt match the Wandsworth brewed beers that i can remember, the other beers were Youngs Special and Bombardier.
There was a decent amount of drinkers in the front bar which is a pleasant enough room to drink in,the rear room was almost empty.
