Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Stag

Not what I was expecting, as this is now just a very basic two-part bar - one with a pool table and the other (with the main part of the counter) having a small stage area at the far end. Very limited amount of seating, and plain decor (apart from some stained-glass in the windows). No real ale, indeed a very restricted drinks selection, so made do with a quick pint of John Smith's (made marginally more palatable by the £2.00 price tag).

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Old Stag

We went in here looking for Byatts Brewery beer, after being tipped that they serve it, but to no avail, just one handpump serving an Everards Tiger. The pub only reopened this year after being closed for two and a half years. The pub required a lot of work before reopening as the majority of the wiring and plumbing was stolen.
The new owner has decided not to stock any Carling, Stella or Strongbow. Instead he has gone for Belguim and Spanish beers on draught. He plans to extend the real ale range when business picks up.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Old Stag

This is a detached corner pub with a beer garden. It looks like a 1930s style rebuild of a Victorian pub on the same site. It is mock-Tudor, executed in brick with some black timber beams. The interior is now open plan and the décor is cream and red. The TV wasn't on, but there is darts, pinball and a piano. The music (via a jukebox) was general and at a decent level. There are no real pictures on the walls, just a mirror or two. The service was fine and a few locals were in. Beer; usual kegs with a few continental lagers and Corvus Stout. There were a couple of real ales on (I thought there were more and may have not listed them all), which were Everard's Beacon and Byatt's XK Dark - which was very good. A decent enough addition to our regulars in Coventry - worth a try.
